The Week in Prep Sports

The Douglass basketball team gave history a great run. But the Red Devils fell one game short.

Coach Greg Williams’ team was bidding to become the fourth Memphis school to finish the year as an undefeated state champion. Douglass reached the title game in Class 2A only to fall to Alcoa for the second year in a row.

Ridgeway also had a fine season end in disappointment; the Roadrunners finished second in 3A. In 4A, Bartlett lost to Cookeville in the semifinals on a late bucket.
